About.
My name is Kelly, thank you for visiting my website. I am trained in a variety of different therapies which help me collaborate with clients to find the right approaches and techniques that work for you, no two people are the same, and one size does not fit all. This is a two-way process to fine tune and see what helps you best. A large part of this is talking together, I also work somatically (checking in with the breath, bodily symptoms of emotional distress) and can offer creative approaches if this is of interest.
It can be a big step to take to reach out for therapy if you have not had therapy before and are not sure what to expect. In sessions with me you can expect kindness, compassion and confidentiality. I offer a space for you to feel truly heard and to feel less alone and isolated with whatever it is that is causing you distress, in the hope of being able to help alleviate and demystify the issues you are facing.
I work sensitively and hold space for clients to work through challenging feelings, overwhelm, painful life experiences, difficult relationship experiences, memories and events and help to make some sense of them. Through this process clients often describe feeling a greater sense of self-understanding and understanding of events that have happened to them, a greater ability to cope with overwhelming emotions, able to ground themselves, have a greater sense of self-confidence, self-esteem, and able to have healthier relationship dynamics with family, partners, friends, colleagues.
I have been working with Mind the mental health charity for a number of years and am experienced working with clients who have experienced:
Anxiety, panic attacks and emotional dysregulation
Attachment trauma, relationship difficulties and family dynamics
Childhood sexual abuse and adult sexual trauma
Creativity blocks and issues of self-doubt
Depression, low self-esteem, hopelessness
Discrimination
Early life abuse and trauma
Employment and work difficulties
Feelings of inadequacy and imposter syndrome
Grief, bereavement and loss
Identity issues and impact of difference
Life challenges and life changes
Loneliness
Paranoia
Psychosis, voices
Neurodivergence
Spiritual and existential issues
Stress and stress management
I offer a free 25 minute phone or video call conversation to see if we would be a good fit to work together and answer any questions you might have about the counselling process. This is with no obligation to begin sessions with me, but get an idea of who I am and how I work and for you to see if you would like to begin counselling with me.
I work with clients short term (6 - 12 weeks) and medium term (12 - 24 weeks), and longer term (24+ weeks), this can be discussed. I offer weekly and fortnightly appointments on Mondays and Fridays.
I am a member of the BACP a recognised professional body and abide by their Ethical Framework (2018), which you can read here. I have an Enhanced DBS, full insurance and registration with the ICO who govern GDPR laws.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you, with warm regards, Kelly
